Day 1 — Athens → Lisbon → São Vicente
Current international plan: ATH → LIS on 27 Nov at 20:00, then LIS → VXE on 28 Nov at 07:00, arriving around 10:20. Afternoon in Mindelo: historic centre, market/harbour, sunset and dinner. Optional morna/coladeira.
Sleep: MindeloDay 2 — São Vicente → Santo Antão → Paul Valley
Ferry Mindelo → Porto Novo, then local transport to Paul. Keep the afternoon relaxed: plantations, villages, sugar-cane/grogue, coffee and local food.
Sleep: Paul ValleyDay 3 — 🥾 Cova Crater → Paul Valley

Classic Santo Antão interior hike. Expect steep switchbacks, cobbled/uneven mountain paths, agricultural terraces and a long descent into Paul Valley. Not technically difficult, but the sustained descent can be tiring.
Sleep: Paul Valley
Starting point for the dramatic north-coast hike.
Remote coastal scenery at the end of the hike.
Day 4 — 🥾 Ponta do Sol → Fontainhas → Cruzinha / Chã de Igreja

Famous cobbled coastal paths, dramatic Atlantic cliffs and remote villages. Pre-arrange transport from Chã de Igreja after the hike.
Sleep: Ribeira GrandeDay 5 — 🥾 Xóxó → Lombo do Pico → waterfall

Use the longer Xóxó/Lombo do Pico route rather than the short Ribeira Grande → Xóxó walk. Farmer trails, agricultural terraces, steep sections, the Xóxó rock and a waterfall. A local guide is sensible around less obvious sections.
Sleep: Ribeira GrandeDay 6 — Santo Antão → São Vicente → Fogo
Ribeira Grande → Porto Novo → ferry to São Vicente → domestic flight toward Fogo, potentially via Praia depending on the final CVsky schedule.
Day 7 — 🌋 Pico do Fogo

Volcanic ash, lava, steep slopes and a landscape completely different from Santo Antão. Use a local mountain guide for the ascent.
Sleep: Chã das CaldeirasDay 8 — Fogo culture + wine → Praia
Keep this lighter: Chã das Caldeiras, lava fields, volcanic villages and vineyards, then São Filipe. Fly to Praia and use Praia as the buffer night before the international flight.
Sleep: PraiaDay 9 — Praia → Lisbon → Athens
International return to Lisbon and onward to Athens.

Why these hikes?
🌿 Cova → Paul
Classic crater-to-valley experience with steep mountain descent and fertile terraces.
🌊 Ponta do Sol → Cruzinha
The major coastal experience: cliff paths, villages and Atlantic scenery.
🌱 Xóxó → Lombo do Pico
Better matched to an experienced group than the shorter Xóxó walk; agricultural terrain, ~700 m climb and waterfall.
🌋 Pico do Fogo
A completely different trekking environment: volcanic ash, lava and high-altitude terrain.

Accommodation strategy
Mindelo
1 night on arrival. Stay centrally for restaurants and music; the final buffer night is planned in Praia.
Paul Valley
2 nights. Prioritize valley access, breakfast and views.
Ribeira Grande
2 nights for the coastal and Xóxó routes.
Fogo
Chã das Caldeiras for Pico do Fogo, with São Filipe depending on flights.
Praia
1 night before the international return.
Transport principles
- No rental car required: ferries, alugueres/shared minibuses, taxis and domestic flights.
- Pre-book critical transfers after long hikes, especially from Chã de Igreja.
- Build buffer into Day 6.
- Keep the final night in Praia if returning via RAI.

- For a Greek passport, verify current tourist-entry rules before departure.
- Complete the required EASE pre-registration before travel.
- Recheck passport validity and official Cape Verde entry requirements shortly before departure.
